Gone, but not forgotten (no matter how much we try)
Shadows Enterprises was an H/P/V/C/A group that existed from May 23rd, 1997 until January 5th, 1998. It was originally started as "The Shadows" by Shadow AKA Ternstile. After he disbanded the bogus hacker group, "The WildCards" on April 22, 1997 he decided to continue on with a real group. The original member requirements were simply that each new member bring in two new members, that was all. The original site went up shortly after at Geocities. It was made with FrontPage by Shadow. It didn't take long for MEGAߥTE to become the webmaster, and the site which was originally meant to be mirror, to relocate at Milagro. We were hosted by TRP for a time, until they shut down his server. By July, we had a pretty good following, around 25 members. Though is started out rough, day by day we got more organized. By the 30th, the first newsletter went out, and we started organizing into divisions. We changed our name to Shadows Enterprises during this time. The site changed looks several times, grew and containted pretty advanced HTML and graphics for the time. As MEGAߥTE ran the site, he ended up controlling as much, if not more the organization that Shadow did. A month later however, several of the members refused to do anything except bear the label '1337 h4x0r' which 95% of them were not. We struggled for support. Almost nothing seemed to motivate the members we had, and new ones coming in lacked motivation as well. We did have one anarchy text release and were planning on some programs. By the end of the year, we decided to meet in IRC to weed out anyone who really wasn't interested. It really didn't go too well, and both Shadow AKA Spliced Reality AKA Reverend, and MEGAߥTE got disgusted with the group. It was shut down shortly after on the 5th. Even after the site was shut down, we still had applications for membership. Probably because we were part of the Fringe of the Web. The members went their separate (but frequently crossing) ways. MEGAߥTE, along with Deezer and DarkOrk set up Patent Pending. DarkOrk, along with MEGAߥTE set up JesterGames. Reverend experimented with several sites, and the other members, for the most part, went about their business. So there you have it, a short history of Shadows Enterprises. I really wanted to add more to this site, including a complete mirror of the site as it was before the closing, but my HD just recently crashed, and I lost most of it.
