Description |
In order to determine the possible marketing possiblities for an integrated notification device, we undertook research to determine the current state of the market. This provided us with some suggestions and points to keep in mind before arriving at any final conclusions about what features to include or exclude in Scope. |

Originally, we had intended to determine what software Scope would find itself competing with. However, the scope of Scope is far larger than any of the existing products on the market, and as a result, most common users don't have anything which they could compare to Scope. While there are individual e-mail notification programs and news notification systems, they are usually isolated to one single type of task. We were unable to find any notification system as capable and as robost as Scope promises to be, integrating each of the separate tasks handled by the existing market products. Researching the CNN NewsCheck helped provide more information about news notifcation programs, and what services they provide. It was found to be very terse and sparse, giving news on a very general basis. A possible feature for scope would be to give general alerts on the individual priority and based on the user's area of interest and according to the user's location, which could then be amplified at the user's request. We also found after interviewing our group of stakeholders and researching the possible products that Scope might replace, that Scope is an innovative idea with a clear market niche. While few people are directly aware of their lack of such a system, we believe that once such a product exists, the market will be eager to embrace it with their hearts, their hard drives, and their wallets. |
